2022 TOLERANT CITIES INDEX

This document is the official text of the Press Release (Press Release) published by the SETARA Institute on April 6, 2023, titled “SETARA Institute Press Release: 2022 Tolerant Cities Index (IKT)”.

This 9-page document presents the results of the sixth edition of the measurement study (indexing) on levels of tolerance, harmony, and social inclusion in 94 cities across Indonesia throughout 2022. The 2022 IKT assessment uses four main variables, which are broken down into eight measurable indicators, including the presence or absence of discriminatory policies, regional medium-term development plans (RPJMD), public statements by mayors, and the dynamics of incidents of intolerance on the ground. This document announces the list of the “10 Cities with the Highest Tolerance Scores” (with Singkawang City ranking first) as well as the “10 Cities with the Lowest Tolerance Scores.” In the concluding section, this release includes six strategic recommendations to promote the mainstreaming of inclusive governance (inclusive governance) at both the central and local levels.
