Summary

This document is a publication of a research report entitled “Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) Benchmark Report 2026”. The report was compiled by the SETARA Institute in collaboration with SIGI (Inclusive Governance Initiative) Research and Consulting.

This report presents the results of an evaluation and assessment (benchmarking) of the extent to which companies in Indonesia—particularly in high-impact strategic sectors such as mining and palm oil—integrate Business and Human Rights (BHR) principles, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and sustainability into their business operations. This document serves as a national reference regarding the implementation of respect for human rights in the business sector, based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), as well as companies’ alignment with Presidential Regulation No. 60 of 2023 on the National Strategy on Business and Human Rights. In addition to mapping company scores and rankings (such as Early Adopting Company or Improving Company status), this report also highlights key areas for improvement, such as the governance of grievance mechanisms (grievance mechanism), labour issues, engagement with local communities, and environmental sustainability.
