Module for Islamic Religious Education Teacher: Islam and Religious Moderation

The “Islam and Religious Moderation” training module, authored by Fauzan and published by the SETARA Institute in partnership with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, serves as a professional guide for Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers to foster tolerance and prevent radicalism in madrasas. It promotes “Wasathiyah” (moderate) Islam, defined by ten core principles including middle-path orientation (tawassuth), balance (tawâzun), and tolerance (tasâmuh), to manifest Islam as a blessing for all humanity. The curriculum encourages a shift toward inclusive and contextual teaching methods that prioritize character building and critical thinking over dogmatic indoctrination. Additionally, the module integrates universal human rights and social media literacy as essential tools for teachers to mitigate extremist ideologies and maintain national harmony.
