CiDIA: Between Priorities and Sustainability

This document is a Policy Brief / Policy Paper published by SETARA Institute under the CiDIA (Constitutional Decision Impact Assessment) program, focusing on a critical review of the National Education System Law (UU Sisdiknas).

The study examines how Indonesia’s national education regulations and system should ensure the principles of inclusiveness, diversity, and non-discrimination within educational institutions. The report analyzes a number of provisions and education policies that are considered to have the potential to create exclusivity, social segregation, and barriers to students’ freedom of religion or belief. Through this document, SETARA Institute advocates for reforms to education regulations so that they are more consistent with the Constitution, uphold human rights, and help prevent the emergence of intolerance and extremism within formal educational institutions.
