Business and Human Rights Policy: The Impact and Indonesia’s Response to the Adoption of the EUCSDDD

This document is a policy paper or strategic analysis in e-book format published in September 2024 under the title “Business and Human Rights Policy: Indonesia’s Impact and Response to the Adoption of the EUCSDDD”. This x + 41-page document was compiled and published through a collaboration between SETARA Institute and Sustainable-Inclusive Governance Initiative (SIGI) Research & Consulting.

This study provides an in-depth analysis of the implications of the European Union’s adoption of the European Union Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (EUCSDDD) for Indonesia’s business and trade ecosystem. The European Union requires global corporations operating in its markets to conduct rigorous human rights and environmental due diligence (human rights and environmental due diligence) throughout their supply chains. This document evaluates the readiness of national regulations (such as the Presidential Regulation on the National Strategy for Business and Human Rights) and outlines strategic response measures that must be taken by the government, the business sector, and civil society in Indonesia to ensure that national export products remain competitive while complying with global human rights and sustainability standards.
