Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Welcoming World Tolerance Day which falls on Monday, November 16, 2015, SETARA Institute released the results of a survey of 94 out of 98 cities in Indonesia in promoting and practicing tolerance. In the survey, Pematang Siantar City, North Sumatra, achieved the top ranking, while Bogor City, West Java, occupied the lowest ranking.

Then what about large cities like Bandung, DKI Jakarta, and Surabaya which are led by well-known figures such as Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil, DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama or Ahok, and former Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini?

Based on the survey conducted by SETARA Institute, among those three cities, Bandung recorded the lowest tolerance. Bandung is ranked 89th with a score of 4.16 points and 28 events.

Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta sits at rank 65 with a score of 3.05 points and 24 events. Surabaya City is ranked 57th with a score of 2.84 and 28 events.

According to the Director of Research at SETARA Institute, Ismail Hasani, that difference is not only in the events that occurred, but other factors.

“For example, regarding the RPJMD (Regional Medium-Term Development Plan), which regional regulations are discriminatory, and how the local government handles tolerance issues,” said Ismail in Jakarta, Monday (16/11/2015).
