Module for Islamic Studies Teachers: Islam and Religious Moderation (Indonesia)

This document is a Training Module published by the SETARA Institute (Pustaka Masyarakat Setara) in November 2019, titled “Training Module for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teachers: Islam & Religious Moderation”.

This module has been specifically designed as a guide and reference for Islamic Religious Education Teachers (GPAI) in schools to instill the values of religious moderation (wasathiyah), tolerance, and inclusivity in students. This document not only discusses the concepts of harmony and cooperation among people of different faiths or religious denominations but also highlights the importance of digital literacy—such as critical thinking (tabayyun)—in filtering information on social media to avoid hoaxes and provocations that fuel extremism. The module also includes evaluation tools in the form of questionnaires, pre-tests, and post-tests to measure teachers’ understanding and readiness to foster a peaceful and tolerant school environment.
